Literacy Department (Literacy Program)
Background:
The Education Department of Help and Care (Sahayog Ra Sarokar) has been running the Adult Literacy Program under non-formal education since the organization’s establishment in 2000 (2057 B.S.). It has now been 25 years since the department started providing trainings such as New Adult Education Facilitator Training, Continuing Education Monitoring Facilitator Training, and Advanced Post-Literacy Facilitator Training.
Up to the year 2025 (2082 B.S.), the department has conducted 1,151 adult literacy classes under the non-formal education program. A total of 27,395 adult participants have gained literacy through these centers. The literacy program has been designed as a one-year continuous education package consisting of three levels:
Basic Level – 5 months
Post-Literacy Level II – 3 months
Advanced Level – 3 months
Over the past 25 years, the continuous education program has been implemented across 47 districts in all 7 provinces of Nepal.
Goal:
To provide quality knowledge to the Nepali people. The goal is to promote socio-economic and human development by ensuring access to quality basic literacy, continuing post-literacy education, and life-skill training for all citizens.
